Pastor Lazarous Mwelwa, fondly known as Pastor Laz, is the senior Pastor of The Chosen Faithful, a non-denominational and multi-cultural ministry. He was born on September 4, 1969 in Lusaka, Zambia and completed his studies in Culinary Arts in Austria, Europe. He came to the United States in Florida as a Disney Professional Culinary Intern. During this period, he met his wife Ained and within a span of two years they got married. They now have four children and a grandchild. Pastor Laz and his wife Ained served at a local Assemblies of God fellowship in Florida for 14 years assisting various ministries and capacities including a bible study he and his wife had been hosting for seven consecutive years in their home. In 2014, he reached a crossroad in his walk with the Lord. He then decided to take a three day Sabbatical away from his home and family to seek the Lord for direction concerning His will. It was at that point in time that the Lord intimated to Pastor Laz that He is taking him in to “deeper waters” and that “it’s time to go beyond bible study and start ministering to the people”. God also showed him in a vision people gathered in his living room worshipping and he laying hands on them. After many nights of prayer and fasting, 6 months later on May 3, 2015, the first service for The Chosen Faithful was held in his living room just as God had showed him. The church is currently located at The Oasis Club Resort located in Champions Gate, FL. An outstanding characteristic about pastor Lazarous is that he preaches truth without compromise yet with love and compassion. As a passionate teacher of the Word, he desires for all under his tutelage to grow in grace and with a deeper knowledge of God. Not only is he a strong proponent of walking in righteousness through Christ by grace as a child of God, but he is also always encouraging believers to discover their calling, then walking and growing in them. Seeking and reaching the lost for Christ is among his personal priorities as is missions and discipling. In his private time, which are usually in the early hours of the morning, he digs in the word of God searching for hidden gems and jewels for his own spiritual growth and enrichment so as to be able to share with those that value the knowledge and ways of God.
